High school interns to work with students at Elmwood

Supporting students (K-2) during our ST Math Intervention.

 

During intervention time block (9:10-10:00), students come to the cafeteria with their Chromebooks and login to ST Math.  

 

Supporting the young students usually involves some questioning and suggestions for how to solve the math puzzles that they are working on.

AP Stats Internship

Position: Project Lead The Way Intern - Grade 7 Classroom

Description: If you are interested in technology, computer science, or teaching this could be a great opportunity for you.  Mr. Amaral is looking for an intern to help with the instruction of a 7th grade Project Lead The Way course.  This class will teach students the fundamentals of computer science to our next generation of makers and innovators.  

 

Duties:  In this position, an intern will need to...

  • Review student work to check for completion

  • Model appropriate classroom behavior

  • Help with caring for computer equipment and other classroom materials

  • Provide basic maintenance for computer equipment and other classroom materials

  • Setting up and cleaning activities or learning stations

  • Preview course materials

  • Provide assistance for students with technical questions

  • Complete other task as directed by the teacher

Grade 10/ELA Department Intern

Mrs. Barbosa is looking for an intern to assist with her grade 10 ELA courses and business for the ELA department.  

Tasks include: 

  • Running stations or conferences with kids on necessary skills 
  • Pulling out small groups of kids for tutoring opportunities 
  • Reviewing strategies
  • Checking in on project progress checkpoints 


Other jobs related to the English Department could include: 

  • Organizing materials for PD 
  • Field trip material organization 
  • Cataloging materials and resources 

Chorus Intern

The High School Chorus Internship will be during Jr High Chorus Block. The intern will be responsible for choosing, rehearsing and conducting one song during the chorus concert. The intern will be responsible for helping Ms. Hammer in the organization and preparation of events and other fundraising and recruitment activities. The intern will complete the internship with an understanding of how to recruit, organize and teach in a musical ensemble setting.

Woolie News Social Media Intern

  • Photograph school activities and events
  • Provide a wide range of photos and posts to showcase as many different students and activities as possible
  • Upload and maintain folders with photos and videos from events
  • Updating “The Reflector” our schools newspaper’s website with media from major events (ex: winter carnival, spring carnival, cultural celebration)
  • Create and maintain folders with select photos to be used in various school related media (ex: MHS website, Principals Newsletter, District Newsletter, etc)
  • Manages the Woolie News social media accounts and posts content.
  • Brainstorms ideas to increase engagement of followers.
  • Analyzes engagement and feedback to continue to provide relevant media.
  • Understands the overall concept of the Woolie News, including the brand, customer, and all other aspects of our audience.
  • Provide suggestions to internship adviser for improving user experience on social platforms and internal processes.
  • Learn and grow their skills in photography and content creation as well as interpersonal communication skills.

Culinary Internship

As a culinary intern you will have the opportunity to:

  • Use their leadership abilities to lead by example in the kitchens 
  • Become familiar with lesson plans and recipes 
  • Demonstrate skills and cooking techniques to classes
  • Maintaining culinary budget by keeping a running spreadsheet and making copies of receipts 
  • Assist students with classwork and/or labs
  • Assist with shelving and reorganizing of kitchen materials as needed.
  • Aid in daily cleaning routines and preplanning for the next class

7th or 8th Grade Band Section Leader:

  • Sitting in sections during rehearsal and playing along with students

  • Leading sectionals (given a lesson plan/learning objective by Mr. Dooley)

  • Working with students on a one-on-one basis as needed

  • Other administrative tasks (photocopies, equipment set up, distribution of music/materials, etc.)

 

8th Grade Band Conducting Intern

  • Sitting in sections during rehearsal and playing along with students

  • Leading sectionals (given a lesson plan/learning objective by Mr. Dooley)

  • Leading warm ups for the ensemble

  • Rehearsing and conducting a piece on each concert

  • Other administrative tasks (photocopies, equipment set up, distribution of music/materials, etc.)

 

**Priority will be given to students interested in pursuing a career in music education**  

Students interested in either of these positions need to be selected through Mr. Dooley's application process.

23-24 Internship opening with Mr. Bergin's Grade 7 PE Class!

PE grade 7 Intern:

  • Responsible for duties as assigned by the teacher, for example:

  • Collecting heart rate monitors at the end of the period.

  • Setting up and cleaning up the activity.

  • Refereeing games

  • Demonstrating techniques and skills to small groups.

  • Setting up the clock and scoreboard for games.

  • Helping with the care of equipment and keeping the equipment closet organized.

  • Modeling appropriate PE dress and behavior
