Dear Parents and Guardians,

In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations (105 CMR 200), mandated health screenings will be conducted for students during the school year starting January 23, 2026

These screenings are required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and may include vision, hearing, height and weight (Body Mass Index), and postural screenings. The purpose of these screenings is to identify potential health concerns that may affect a student’s academic performance, growth, or overall well-being. The schedule for screenings is as follows: 

Hearing, Vision, and Height/Weight: Grades 7 & 10

Postural: Grades 7, 8 and 9 

All screenings will be conducted by the school nurse during the school day in a respectful and confidential manner. Results are kept private and shared with parents or guardians only if a follow-up or further evaluation is recommended. Postural screenings will be done at a later date separately during gym/wellness blocks. An additional notification will be sent home prior to the start of those screenings. 

If you prefer to have your child screened by their primary care provider instead of at school, documentation must be submitted to the health office prior to screenings. Parents/guardians may also opt their child out of any mandated screening by submitting an opt-out form linked below. Any Opt-out must be accompanied by documentation in order to be accepted

**If the health office has already received a health form for your child with documentation of height/ weight, vision, hearing or postural test- these tests will not need to be repeated at school.
