Millbury Junior–Senior High School is proud to recognize McKenzie Settle as a recipient of the Worcester County Superintendent Association Award. McKenzie exemplifies what it means to be a well-rounded, student-centered leader -balancing academic excellence, service, and a deep commitment to making her school community more inclusive and welcoming.
Academically, McKenzie has distinguished herself through both achievement and voice. McKenzie earned the English Department Award in her junior year and the History Department Award as a sophomore, reflecting her strengths as a thoughtful reader, writer, and critical thinker. In 2023, McKenzie further showcased her confidence and communication skills by winning the Millbury Lions Club Speech Competition and advancing to the semifinals.
Beyond the classroom, McKenzie’s leadership and service have left a lasting impact. McKenzie is on track to earn the Girl Scouts Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouts, while also mentoring younger Girl Scouts and musicians. As Drum Major for the Marching Band in both her junior and senior years, McKenzie led her peers with dedication and pride. McKenzie also serves as Treasurer of the National Honor Society and is a passionate leader of Millbury’s Gender Sexuality Alliance, where McKenzie has advocated for a safer, more welcoming school environment for all students.
McKenzie’s values are captured in a favorite quote by Lin-Manuel Miranda:
“And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.”
We congratulate McKenzie Settle on this well-deserved recognition and thank her for the leadership, compassion, and voice she brings to the Millbury community.
